Youth

Young people have a vital role to play in the life of the Church and in the world. They offer hope, inspiration and courage. The Church needs young people’s voices, involvement, and leadership for it to grow and we are all called to be young in our outlook and our attitude so we can live life to the full and discover God’s personal plan for each of us.

Take a quiet moment today and invite Jesus in.

R. Glory to You O Lord

 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.  And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.

Day 2 – Lost in the mix

We invite you to start with the Sign of the Cross.

Being young can be hard. It seems everybody has a plan for you. Parents, teachers and even your mates. The message is always about focusing on your future. It can feel like YOU are lost in all this. Where is the space to just be yourself?

God loves you, exactly the way you are, here and now.

God’s got you

Almighty Ever living God,

In the confusion and stress of youth, grant us Your grace. In times of fear comfort us and remind us that You hold our lives in your tender hands. Grant the bright stars of youth your peace and strength.

We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Day 3 – Never alone

We invite you to start with the Sign of the Cross.

In the Gospel passage Jesus is talking about the end of the world and His second coming. But Jesus doesn’t leave it there. He goes on to say that then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. The Son of Man is a title Jesus uses for himself, referring to his identity as the Messiah and the one who will come to judge the world. This is can seem upsetting and might make us afraid.

The good news is that when Jesus comes again, it will not be to destroy the world, but to save it. To save us. If we invite Him and try to live by His teachings, Jesus can come again, in our hearts. Right here and now.

In the silence of our hearts spend a minute or so inviting Jesus into your life, and the lives of everyone we encounter. (Recommend 1 minute of silence)

With Advent coming and the end of the year upon, we offer our prayer for Jesus to come:

Jesus, I surrender myself to you. Take care of everything.

Amen.

In different circumstances different things can seem like the end of the world -its not a one time thing.
It can be seen as the end of the world or the beginning of change

It is like the end of this world but the start of a new world up in heaven. It could mean the end of one chapter and the start of another in the journey of life.

This passage means that when Jesus comes down to Earth there will be signs. E.g. sun, moon, darkness.
Could be referring to what people see before they die.
No, there will be another lifetime with God eternally in heaven.
It’s not a one time event.
It happens often.
It means it will be the end of this wicked world and the beginning of a new more holy world.
Yes, because everyone will go to heaven at the end.
When God brings Jesus to earth there will be hints of his presence.
Its when everything loses its meaning, it can happen multiple times, meaning changes and evolves, in between this there is no meaning.
Jesus sacrificing his life for humans to live, what he saw before his last breath.

In this passage, the end of the world could be seen as a good thing – it is the end of a bad world and the start of a new, good world where all sins are forgiven.

The right people go to heaven and the evil people go to hell, and God begins a new face of humans, that its not a one time event since God is making a new beginning for the new generation

We think that it is a foreshadowing of Jesus coming down from heaven. This passage about sending peace back to the earth. Without help from jesus you might not be able to see your way.

No that is not all it means – it could be talking about how the world might end but we probably know that is not going to happen. It is teaching us what might happen if we are not careful. It tells us we need to live our life to the fullest whilst we can because one day our lives and the world we live in will end. We need to make the most of what we have now and make sure we do good to take care of the earth for future generations.

It is not just a one time event because dark things could mean when bad things happen or when god is angered by our behaviour. We need to make sure we are following the teachings of Jesus and praying for forgiveness and make sure we do good to take care of the earth (e.g. not littering and decreasing pollution).

This passage talks about the end of the world, but is that all it means?
Jesus is the light of the world. When Jesus is dying the (light) sun will be darkened.
No because it also says what will happen after the end of the world and that God will send out angels.
Yes – all it means is that the world is ending.
It’s God’s beautiful creation that’s going to end not just the world because it’s much more special than that. God created the world for us to live in.
Jesus will send angels to get rid of our sins.
Jesus believed that when the Messiah comes the world will end.
I don’t think that is all that the world needs.
It means that Jesus will descend into the world, it’s not a one time event.
It talks about Jesus/the Messiah coming back and he will send out the angels to help us.

Is it just a one time event?
Yes – because the end of the world would be permanent.
It’s most likely not a one time event for God is merciful and will always try again.
It means that Jesus is going to come again and judge the world like he promised when he was going back to heaven.
It’s not just a one time event.
No – this happened more than once because God took away our sins before.

The passage highlights the arrival of Jesus, this is a big positive as Jesus is coming to save us from sin. Mentions heaven, that if you do the right things you can go to Heaven. God’s love is eternal.
