Welcome to this week’s Living Word.
The Word of the Week this week is Celebration.
Celebration is when we come together to rejoice in the things that are good. It is a time to give thanks to God for all his blessings and to recognise what he’s given to us in love. We should always look for things we can celebrate, and through our celebrations, we can share happiness and joy with others.
Section 1: Looking Back
We invite you to start with the Sign of the Cross.
Response: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen
A reading from the book of Pslams.
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!The Word of the Lord.
R./ Thanks be to God.
We are now in our final few days of school and there is much excitement. The summer holiday offers us time to slow down, relax and recharge. It also offers us space to have fun with friends and family, perhaps travel, try new things and do things that we enjoy doing.
Today, let us take some time to look back on this academic year with gratitude and in celebration. As you listen to this worship song, I invite you to reflect on the high points of your year: academically, socially and personally. What subject have you done particularly well in? Which friendship has been strengthened? What personal qualities have you developed?
If there is time, I invite you to share some of the things that you would like to celebrate from this school year and put them into a Word Cloud which can be printed and added to your form scrapbook.
Loving Father, we thank you for the friendships, laughter and joy which have enjoyed throughout this school year. As we celebrate our achievements and highlights, we thank you for always being by our side and we thank the staff and our peers who have accompanied us too. Amen.
Section 2: Looking Ahead
We invite you to start with the Sign of the Cross.
Response: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Can you remember how the Psalm we heard yesterday ended?
‘Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!’
That means wherever we go this summer – whether we are meeting friends, visiting family, or just relaxing at home – we can celebrate God’s goodness.
What are you most looking forward to about the summer holidays this year? Share some responses if you feel comfortable to do so.
Before we pack to go on holiday, we think carefully about what needs to go in our suitcase so that we will be well prepared to enjoy our break away. But how do we pack our hearts ahead of the six week break from school? Let us take a few minutes to think about how we can share joy this summer. As a form, can you come up with five ways to spread joy this summer? Add your five ways to the comments.
May God bless our summer holiday. May he keep us safe, give us with rest, and bring us back refreshed. Through our kind words and actions, let us praise the Lord!
Leader: Go in peace, and have a wonderful holiday.
R./ Thanks be to God.
