Welcome to this week’s Living Word! We’ve got loads going on this week and as ever, please keep your suggestions coming in about what we can do to make this time with your form better – it’s really appreciated!

Day 1 – Putting in the work.

We invite you to start with the Sign of the Cross.

Each we we start with Scripture because it helps us all to think about the important things in life. This week’s word – Work – is actually a really big idea to understand.

Everyone tells your that work is important but there is something really meaningful about

A Reading from the letter of St Paul to the Galatians.

Help carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ. If you think you are something when you really are nothing, you are only deceiving yourself. You should each judge your own conduct. If it is good, then you can be proud of what you yourself have done, without having to compare it with what someone else has done. For each of you have to carry your own load… So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest. 1So then, as often as we have the chance, we should do good to everyone.

Day 2 – We all have work to do.

We invite you to start with the Sign of the Cross.

It takes along time for hard work to pay off and sometimes the work we are called to might seem like it’s not getting anywhere at all.

Take a watch of this from the Karate Kid, Jayden has been training for weeks but doesn’t feel like the work he is doing is making a difference….

We believe that God has work for all of us to do, but sometimes it might not be easy to understand what that work is helping us to achieve. There will come a point however, when we can look back, and we’ll see how the work we have done has helped us to grow and achieve.

This morning, take some time to reflect or talk as a class about what work you have to do, what it might mean, and what difference it will make.

The prayer below is by Saint John Henry Newman and it is a beautiful way to explore this more. Listen to or read it together as a form.

Day 3 – Thank you very much!

We invite you to start with the Sign of the Cross.

You will need a sheet of A4 Paper of Card

Recognising those in our community that work hard for us is important for 2 key reasons.

Firstly, it inspires us to be like them, to work selflessly for others and to do the right thing.

Secondly, when we take time to recognise those who do an amazing job it makes them feel good and helps them to be encouraged and supported in what they do.

Your job this morning as a form is to make a thank you card on behalf of your form for someone who works hard in your community it could be a teacher, member of support staff, one of the site team, someone in the office or anybody that comes to work to help make SSPP the community it is.

Have a talk as a form as decide who your card should be for (You can make more than one if you like!) and then work together to craft a design and a message that you can all sign.

You mission this week is to seek out that person who works for our school and recognise them and celebrate them.
