We talked about football, because we think football is our calling in life. We think God wants us to follow him, like the sheep did. We talked about what we want to do in life, this is what God wants us to do.

The sheep are people of God – when he talks to his people they obey.
The sheep for non religious people the sheep could be a leader or friends.
Christians are the sheep and Jesus is the shepherd as the sheep obey the shepherd.

VOCATION
The meaning of ‘my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me’ is that you will always have someone by your side no matter what.
When Jesus says about the sheep following him it’s referring to his disciples, and the common people (us).
We all have a vocation. The sheep of the God is us. God knows us. As a Christian, we have to follow Jesus. People listen to the word of God. The message is that we should follow him and he knows us.
The sheep know he is the Messiah and the leader so they follow his word as they could represent Jesus’s disciples
The key message is to use your ability for good to the world, and to be doing what we’re good at. Do what you love doing most.

The scripture teaches us to keep following the teachings of GOD and that we are all safe under the protection of GOD.

A vocation can be seen as more than just a job.

Teaching – being able to provide an education for people. Some people may feel a ‘calling’ to be a Police Officer, in order to help others and make sure that people are safe. People who work for mountain rescue/air ambulances, people who may already be able to fly helicopters, might feel a sense of duty.

People may be inspired by their family and want to follow their ‘calling. Vocations could be putting yourself at risk others. People might want to serve their county, for example wanting to be in the military.

A vocation is everyone needing a role in society. It is a calling, more than just a job. Doing things not just for yourself but for the greater love of others.

Christians follow God and they hear his word in the bible. God is great and he sent us Jesus.

Finding our vocation isn’t easy on our own but with the help and support of family, friends and our community we can have a sense of what our purpose is. Anyone can do a job but a vocation is made for you and you for it.

7JB thinks this tells us that Jesus cares for his disciples and followers. We think Jesus gave his eternal life so we could live forever. We think we are the sheep and god is the shepherd. That Jesus’s followers will never leave him. We think this passage tells us to respect people. I think the passage tells us to help the world. The key message is that Jesus is the shepherd and we are the sheep and Jesus looks after us. We should follow in Jesus’s footsteps and guidance to help us live a good life. Jesus wants us to follow him away from sin and to leave a better life.

When discussing our ‘calling’ in life, the students heavily focussed on leaving school to pursue greater achievements…mostly how they can amass a vast fortune.

Finding our vocation isn’t easy and in young people the question ‘what do you plan on doing when you are older?’ can create real anxiety. Vocation is something we find as we find ourselves and grow, with help from family, friends and loved ones we find our talents.
